What’s Involved?

This meeting energiser session is ideal for getting a conference off to a fantastic and positive start. The Event Programme

First things first, we make your participants comfortable and confident. Starting with humorous and simple activities, guests will air-drum, mexican wave, clap and stamp rhythms, finger click and repeat fun ‘drum language’ - all with the encouragement of our meeting energiser team.

Drums

Everyone gets a hand drum or Sound Shape drum, and the drum leader and assistants get everyone playing in unison. Soon employees will come together to create a wonderful tribal drum beat - making for a powerful start to the session, with lots of humour too. Next, employees learn the Japanese Kodo style rhythm called ‘Heartbeat’. This is energetic and funny, always ending in a huge cheer with everyone uplifted.

Percussion

Splitting into 4 groups, employees now get the opportunity to enjoy a selection of instruments, dotted around the room. From fruit shakers, cowbells, sound shapes and drums to the unusual wobble boards and kazoos, guests are encouraged to get creative and use different muscles and parts of the body - hands are arms get tired if you’re not used to drumming! After a quick instruction on how to play the instruments, the drum leader will play a strong rhythm to latch onto - so participants can play along. Groups will move around all the different instruments, so they have the opportunity to try out different musical skills. The room will come alive with a variety of musical techniques, including call and response, changes in dynamics and tempo, and generalised world music rhythms.

Boomwhackers

Now it’s time for employees to join in a boomwhacker orchestra! Boomwhackers are coloured plastic tubes that are struck on the hand (or any other part of the body!) and play musical notes. Each colour boomwhacker is given a different rhythm - and together the room comes alive to create the Close Encounters of the Third Kind theme tune, which gradually gets quicker and quicker. It’s great fun and a fantastic way to leave the room pumped for the rest of the conference.
