Queen Elizabeth Hospital
The Events Company organised the promotional launch of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham
As part of the Diamond Jubilee Tour, the Queen accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh officially named the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham on her two day visit to the West Midlands. The Events Company were officially appointed to provide technical and logistical support for the event.
200 – 5,000 guests
We transformed the atrium area of new hospital with a stage set to host the official naming ceremony. Along with the main stage set we built a tiered seating area for 200 local dignitaries to watch the ceremony that was televised on local TV.
The Queen and Duke were greeted by cheering, flag-waving crowds and a fanfare from the Royal Air Force band outside the main entrance to the hospital before moving inside to meet patients, staff and volunteers.
Dame Julie Moore, Chief Executive of University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation welcomed the Queen and Duke, which was followed by a short speech and video showing the construction of the new hospital and the work it currently provides.
After the video and speech the Queen unveiled a piece of commemorative glasswork by a local artist.
