Gordon Ramsay

Gordon Ramsay has a real passion for quality, this passion has seen him rapidly rise to fame as one of Europe's finest chefs. In addition, he enjoys a broadcasting career where his temper has become as famous as his culinary triumphs.

May 2004 saw Gordon Ramsay heading the Channel 4 series Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, followed by ITV's Hell's Kitchen, where he developed the kitchen skills of celebrities and demonstrated just how difficult running a kitchen can be. His most recent Channel Four series was 'Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares' where he stayed for a week's stint at some of the countries most disastrous restaurants and had to work his kitchen magic in order to bring customers back and the bucks rolling in.

Gordon has won three coveted Michelin stars at his Chelsea restaurant, named Gordon Ramsay at 68 Royal Hospital Road. He also owns the Michelin-starred Pétrus and has another star at the Gordon Ramsay restaurant at London's Claridge's. At the beginning of October 2002 Gordon Ramsay Holdings Limited took over the whole of the food and beverage operation at The Connaught Hotel, a member of the Savoy Group. In January 2004 MENU at The Connaught won its first Michelin star. During 2003, for the second year running, Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road was named amongst the five best restaurants in the world by a poll run by Restaurant Magazine.

Scottish by birth, Gordon was brought up in England after his parents moved south to Stratford-upon-Avon. His first career break came whilst playing football for Oxford United where he was spotted by a Glasgow Rangers scout in a F.A. youth club match. After completing trials he was signed by the Scottish champions at the age of 15. Three years later he had given up professional football and gone back to college to complete an HND course in hotel management. Gordon moved to London where he joined Marco Pierre White in the early days of Harvey's in Wandsworth. After a couple of years Gordon moved to Le Gavroche to work alongside Albert Roux. This was followed by three years of working in France in the kitchens of Guy Savoy and Joël Robuchon. Here he was able to enhance his expertise in classic French cooking. In October 1993, Gordon Ramsay opened his own restaurant called Aubergine and within three years he had been awarded two Michelin stars. Moving on, Gordon has run a string of successful restaurants across London. Gordon has extensive consultancy agreements with a number of blue chip companies including Singapore Airlines, Booker Cash and Carry Limited and Aramark Limited.
