Eamonn Holmes
He's the face most people wake up to in the morning. For 12 and a half years Eamonn Holmes has anchored breakfast station GMTV, but his face can be seen at other times and on other stations, most notably as twice weekly host of BBC1's National Lottery Jet Set.
Now with his own Saturday morning sports entertainment show on Radio Five Live, Eamonn was born in Belfast and studied journalism there before beginning his broadcasting career at Ulster Television. Initially a farming reporter before moving on to sport and news, he became, at the age of 21, the youngest ever anchorman in the ITV regions, hosting Ulster Television's hour-long early evening programme Good Evening Ulster.
In 1986 he was one of the faces who launched daytime television on BBC1, with the daily phone-in programme Open Air. During the late 80s and early 90s he hosted various programmes for the BBC, including Holiday, which he co-presented for four years. He also covered numerous national sports events for the station, and has hosted many sports discussion programmes.
He launched GMTV in January 1993 and presents the show daily. Increasing television commitments have recently seen Eamonn host the search to find Britain's best young speller on BBC 1's Hardspell.
Britain's longest serving breakfast host and a passionate Manchester United fan, Eamonn is a father of four and divides his time between London, Belfast and Old Trafford.
