Commitments

Following an exhaustive promotional tour in 1991 to promote the global success of the film, the band went their separate ways. In 1993, The Commitments were reborn as a real, working, touring band. On many special occasions, their co-stars from the movie (including Michael Aherne, Robert Arkins and Johnny Murphy) all perform with the touring band.

The Commitments tour the world constantly and perform to sell-out audiences in the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, Middle East – and Ireland! They make numerous TV and radio appearances promoting their shows and for 2004, will be working with 20th Century Fox to promote the all-new 2-disc collectors’ edition DVD of The Commitments movie.

The Commitments first soundtrack album has sold in excess of 7,000,000 copies.

The Commitments second soundtrack album has sold in excess of 5,000,000 copies.

The Commitments movie has been seen by an estimated 1 billion people worldwide.

The Commitments is rated 33rd of the top 100 films of all times by the British Film Industry.

The Commitments are a full-time professional touring act spending an average of 30 weeks of every year on the road.

The Commitments have played over 900 shows worldwide since forming in 1993. Most venue capacities are between 1,000–5,000 but the group also regularly play in front of festival audiences to many more fans!

The Commitments have played live concerts to more than 2.5 million people (excluding TV, radio and Internet performances).

American music industry magazine Pollstar charted The Commitments in the Top 30 of the largest grossing touring acts in the USA. Their sell-out shows continue to receive enthusiastic reviews.

The Commitments most recent recording is a live album recorded at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire and features legends Steve Cropper, Dennis Edwards and Clarence Clemons, performing with the band.

A special collectors edition 2-Disc DVD was released in America during March by 20th Century Fox and the band will be promoting this as it is released throughout the world during 2004.

The band have played France, Great Britain, Ireland, Germany, Finland, Holland, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Oman (UAE) Portugal, Sweden, Canada and USA. Every year, the band adds new territories to their hectic tour schedule.

The Commitments nine-piece touring band currently features Joe Walsh - lead vocals, Kenneth McCluskey - Guitar, Dick Massey - Drums, Karen Coleman and Claire Malone on vocals and backing vocals, Serge Stavila and Ray Martin - the Brass Section, Darren Hanley -Bass, and Daniel Antoine on Organ and Keyboards.
